For most, prayer is
an asking, pleading up, out.
Please, please God do this…

Prayer isn’t mind act,
conjuring a great wish list,
or desperation.

Prayer is inside.
Quiet rest on sacred ground.
Beyond busy thought.

Prayer is clearness.
Free from small self, head, ego.
Uncluttered enough.

It’s receptiveness,
and it reverses the flow.
Living through Spirit.

Solitude inward.
Outer dependencies gone.
Emptied yet filled, whole.

No thing left to want.
No self seeking its own gain.
Not served but serving.

Light of Grace reveals
darkness no real existence.
Cloudless, perfect sky.

It is the mind that parades and vaunts itself.
Let the mind be still, and “at an hour when ye think not,”
behold the Experience [of God].
Joel S. Goldsmith, illumined Master and beloved teacher
