SPIRITUAL QUIESCENCE

Energy ebbs, builds.
Rushing rivers burst their seams.
Downhill they fast plunge.

Waters of land merge
in awaiting ocean arms.
Two meet in the one.

Seamless power meets.
Currents collide in uplift.
Head-on surge settles.

Winds calm, surface stills.
A moment of perfect rest.
One quiet ensues.

My heart is tuned to the quietness that
the stillness of nature inspires.
Hazrat Inayat Khan, founder of the mystical
Sufi Order in the West in 1914
